" ...the peak of professionalism was reached half-way through the evening with the performance of the British trumpet soloist Alison Balsom. The artist, who has already recorded a CD with the EMI label, last year won the Classic Brit Award as "best young classical performer". She played her soloist piece in the Trumpet Concerto by Hummel, offering a wonderful sound rich in delicate musical nuances. During her additional piece she also demonstrated her talent as a graceful virtuoso: a "beautiful blonde" who manages to transform the lively sonorities of the "Syrinx" for flute solo by Debussy into a preciosity for trumpet."
